In January 2014, God began to stir the hearts of Pastors Ken and Teryl Baker to plant Resurrection Church and preach the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ: that He died for our sins, was buried, and God raised Him from the dead on the third day so that those who believe in Him are saved by grace through faith in Him and therefore have hope in the resurrection of their dead bodies to reign with Christ and have everlasting life.
God led us to Mountaintop Church in Manassas, VA under the leadership of Pastors Rob and Linda Seagears. Pastor Rob also serves as the Church Plant Director of the Potomac District of the Assemblies of God and helped to assimilate us in the credentialing process.
God began to give us a desire for the nations and in July 2014 sent us on a mission’s trip to King’s Castle in El Salvador where we ministered in churches, schools, and various communities to preach the gospel.
In the Spring of 2015, we began preparing for bootcamp and training for the C32 Initiative of the Assemblies of God’s Potomac Ministry District, whereby 32 churches would open its doors on September 17, 2017. These churches would be planted in Washington, DC, Hampton Roads, Richmond, and Baltimore. However, it was not until January 2017 that God revealed to Pastor Ken the Mosaic District of Merrifield, VA as the place where Resurrection Church would be planted.
In January 2017, we began having monthly interest meetings in the Mosaic District at the Sea Pearl Restaurant with the objectives of connecting with other churches, building positive relationships with businesses, and gaining a sense of the community needs.
By the beginning of summer 2017, we formed a launch team and began having weekly Bible studies on Tuesday nights at the Angelika Film Center and Café.
